Released in 2018, Coding Express is basically a Duplo Train set with heaps of fun pieces that allows for so much inspiration and creativity. The colour sensing train is a great tool for introducing children to coding basics as they use different coloured pieces to instruct the train to do things such as reverse, play sounds and turn lights on. I use these kits with 3-6 year-olds! |
Coding Express Free-Play

In groups of 2-5 children, students will work together to create a train track, then decorate it according to their own choice. They will also build a simple duplo train with a carriage and use the specially designed coloured train action bricks to command the train to do different things. Usually this sort of sesssion runs for 45-70 minutes. |

Coding Express Using iPads

If sessions run longer than 70 minutes, and if the Educator is keen, then each group will be given an iPad to use. One iPad per will connect to each train and participants will take turns to use the app to control the train and solve problems. I often put a 90-second timer on my TV, so students can share the iPad fairly. |
