Although they are expensive, lithium batteries are the go. Buy a charger that charges 8 at a time. At the end of each couple of lessons, get the class to give you their batteries so you can charge them all before next lesson. Or, if you have enough room, you can usually charge the batteries without removing them from robots. Batteries should be numbered like all other main components
An alternative to lithium batteries is to use 'AA' batteries. Each NXT or EV brick needs 6 batteries. I recommend rechargeable 'AA' which you can buy in bulk on eBay. In addition, you will need to acquire a charger; one that does 10 at a time is good. It's a pain to constantly charge batteries, but if you keep it on your desk with two containers (FLAT and CHARGED), then you can keep on top of the process by changing them every time you notice they are charged. 3000mAh is good. (The higher this number the longer they last before recharging is needed) |
